New team member supported by the McCusker Charitable Foundation.

Updated: Feb 26

The lab would like to welcome Dr Dulika Sumathipala as our newest team member.

Dulika’s research integrates phenotyping, genomics and laboratory studies to identify and characterise the molecular mechanism of novel disease genes. After her undergraduate medical degree, she completed a PhD at the University of Oslo in March 2022.

Dulika then worked on the University of Cambridge-led NeuralNET translational research study, which recruited patients with rare undiagnosed diseases along with their parents to undergo whole genome sequencing to identify the genetic basis for these diseases.

“I look forward to the opportunity to perform advanced work with molecular tools utilising transcriptomics and animal models created using CRISPR/CAS technologies. I also look forward to sharing the knowledge gained as a mentor to research students and being a contributor towards understanding disease causation that would possibly lead to the development of new therapies for the treatment of autoimmune disease." - Dr Dulika Sumathipala, McCusker Postdoctoral Research Fellow
