Congratulations to Dr Morgan Downes and Sonia Nambadan - their research paper, “Rare and Novel RELA Variants Contribute to Systemic Autoimmunity,” has been published in the journal Arthritis & Rheumatology.

The study identified RELA gene variants in patients with diverse autoimmune conditions and demonstrated that some variants caused elevated signalling in an immune pathway known to be a key driver of systemic autoimmunity.Their work reinforces an important role for RELA in a range of autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases and will help to improve patient diagnosis and treatment.
