On 23 October 2025, we enjoyed an informative and engaging evening hosted by AHEPA Canberra, in partnership with the Hellenic Club of Canberra, featuring a fascinating presentation on personalised medicine by senior lecturer Dr Vicki Athanasopoulos.

This event was a wonderful example of how community can come together to learn, connect, and build awareness around emerging approaches to healthcare. Together, we discussed what personalised medicine means and how it has the potential to shape the future of treatment and care for people living with complex autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and scleroderma, offering more tailored, targeted and effective pathways to wellbeing.

We were also deeply moved by Arthur Hodge, a CPM patient, who shared his personal story with honesty and generosity. Arthur’s journey, from facing years of uncertainty to beginning a personalised treatment pathway with Dr Simon Jiang, highlighted the real human impact of this work. His experience reminded us why awareness matters.

Our goal for the evening was to build awareness of this initiative, a joint collaboration between Canberra Health Services and the Australian National University (ANU) - working together to advance personalised medicine and improve outcomes for people living with complex autoimmune diseases.
Our sincere thanks to AHEPA Canberra, the Hellenic Club of Canberra, and everyone who joined us. Your support strengthens the connection between research, healthcare, and the community, ensuring that knowledge is shared, and voices are heard.
